There once was a man who lived up there on the mountain, the mountain, the mountain
He lived by himself and had not a care on the mountain
At 105 he felt so alive, the clean and cold air the snow peaks so fair on the mountain
He pulled his pipe both day and both night on the mountain
He wondered unbowed and felt himself proud on the mountain
He sat on a knot and reflected in thought
the best I must be at smoking these leaves on the mountain
Yet one who had heard every sound every word on the mountain
Appeared from a shade his form he displayed on the mountain
Twas the devil himself and nobody else came to the old and stuck out his hand on the mountain
A wager we'll make with fortune at stake on the mountain
The winner will stay and rule everyday on the mountain
Whoever can smoke the greatest of toke
The largest of haze will spend all their days on the mountain
The old man complied, pushed prudence aside on the mountain
He took the shade's hand and settled demand on the mountain
The mortal and fiend sat down and convened
Began to evoke the largest of smoke on the mountain
And now to this day the devil's at play on the mountain
The wager has stayed and never been paid on the mountain
The fog that lays rest on top of the crest
The rivals forever eternally endeavor on the mountain

The night is drawing near and I have this fear that tomorrow won't ever be the same
So I lay motionless to try to keep this bliss but I know that it won't last forever
Why do these things come and go so fast
They're slipping through my tightly bounded grasp
So I try to change my mind to think that I'll be fine but the truth is I'll never be the same
But I hope that I'll move on, that I'll learn to be strong but I know that it won't last forever
Why do these things re-occur time and time again
I'm left alone with nothing but this feeling that cannot be expressed
